What Is 22q?
22q11.2 Deletion and Duplication Syndromes, commonly called 22q, are genetic conditions caused by a small missing or extra piece of the 22nd chromosome.
This tiny difference can impact nearly every system in the body and may cause a wide range of health and developmental challenges.
Because symptoms vary from person to person, 22q often goes undiagnosed for years. Yet, it is believed to be the second most common genetic disorder after Down syndrome.
Our Mission
At 22q of the Carolinas, our mission is to raise awareness, promote early diagnosis, and strengthen connections among families living with 22q throughout North and South Carolina.
We believe that no one should walk this journey alone!
